Brisbane Transport: Eliminating Equipment Failures and Protecting the Bottom Line

The Challenge: Hub Temperatures and Rising Risks

Established in 2021, Brisbane Transport has rapidly become a specialist in tailored logistics along Australia’s eastern seaboard. Operating an extensive, modern Performance-Based Standards (PBS) fleet of B-doubles, B-triples, and A-doubles, the company manages high-capacity linehaul corridors connecting Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Brisbane.

However, the intensity of long-haul operations brought a dangerous and costly challenge: rising hub temperatures. Before partnering with MICHELIN Connected Fleet, the business faced critical issues with heat levels exceeding safe limits, leading to equipment failures, increased insurance premiums, and - most alarmingly - trailer fires.

To protect their drivers and their modern fleet, Brisbane Transport needed a system that could provide early intervention before a mechanical spike turned into a roadside emergency.

The Solution: trailer premium Integration Across the Fleet

Brisbane Transport turned to MICHELIN Connected Fleet’s Trailer Premium to standardise safety across its entire operation. The solution has since been rolled out to more than 110 trailers, rigids, and prime movers, providing the management team with a live window into the health of every wheel end in the fleet.

Beyond just temperature, the system offers a holistic view of fleet performance, including tyre pressures, braking performance, and real-time geolocation.

MICHELIN Connected Fleet’s Trailer Premium provides us with early alerts on tyre pressures and hub temperatures, allowing our team to act quickly,” explains CEO Gary Badesha. “We are able to notify our drivers about an incident ahead of time and then implement the necessary measures. This early intervention has been critical in preventing potential trailer fires caused by extreme temperatures.”

The Results: Stronger Reliability and Peace of Mind

Since the implementation, the shift from reactive repairs to proactive maintenance has transformed the company’s safety and maintenance strategy.

Enhanced Fleet Visibility

The ability to monitor distances travelled, efficient routes, and equipment location in real-time has bolstered overall fleet reliability.

Our experience with Trailer Premium has been very positive,” Gary says. “The system plays a key role in enhancing safety across our operations by providing real-time alerts when readings move outside acceptable thresholds - protecting our equipment, drivers and other road users.”

Proactive Maintenance and Efficiency

By catching irregular pressures and abnormal heat early, the maintenance team can plan repairs during scheduled stops rather than dealing with unplanned disruptions.

Trailer Premium has become a valuable part of our safety and maintenance strategy,” Gary says. “It supports proactive decision-making, improves reliability and reinforces our commitment to safe and efficient transport operations.”

A Reliable Partnership

For Brisbane Transport, the biggest gain has been the confidence that their assets and people are protected by a proven system.

“We have peace of mind knowing that our equipment is being monitored continuously by a proven and reliable solution. MICHELIN Connected Fleet’s Trailer Premium has significantly reduced the risks associated with tyre and hub-related failures that we have experienced in the past. The solution has integrated smoothly into our operations, and it’s well supported by MICHELIN Connected Fleet when we need assistance."
