Drive-Over Tyre Measurement

Turn every site entry into an automated tyre inspection. As vehicles arrive, number plates are automatically recognised and tyres are measured as they drive over our patented MICHELIN QuickScan technology.

By automating the tyre inspection itself, we support your fleet in getting more frequent, more consistent tyre data than manual inspections can deliver, while your drivers and technicians save valuable time.

Visibility into Tyre Wear and low Pressure

  • Tyre wear data: Tread depth is measured each time a vehicle passes through the inspection point, providing accurate and up-to-date wear data for each tyre.

  • Low-pressure alerts: The system analyses the tyre’s footprint as the vehicle passes through the inspection point to identify signs of potential under-inflation and alert fleet teams when further pressure checks may be required.

Predictive Maintenance & Automated Job Lists

MICHELIN Automated Inspection doesn't just detect issues: it generates a job list and schedule of predictive maintenance, so you can identify what needs attention, prioritise tasks and plan interventions when it suits your operations:

    • Generated job lists based on real tyre condition
    • Predictive wear dates to anticipate replacements up to 60 days ahead**
    • Optimised workshop planning that prioritises the most urgent tasks

FAQ

How does MICHELIN QuickScan measure tyre wear?

+

MICHELIN QuickScan uses electromagnetic plates installed in the ground. As a vehicle drives over them at normal site-entry speed, the system reads the tread depth of every tyre, with no need to stop the vehicle or immobilise it for a manual inspection.

Which vehicles is MICHELIN Automated Inspection suitable for?

+

MICHELIN Automated Inspection is designed for three fleet segments: trucks and heavy goods vehicles, light commercial vehicles, and buses and coaches. The solution adapts to mixed fleets, so all vehicle types can be inspected through the same system.

How is MICHELIN Automated Inspection installed on my site?

+

MICHELIN QuickScan is installed at your site entrance or another passage point. Once in place, every vehicle driving over them is inspected automatically: no change to your drivers' routines.

Does MICHELIN Automated Inspection monitor my tyres on the road?

+

No, and that's by design. This solution is not an on-board, on-the-road monitoring system: it automates tyre inspection at the entrance of your site. Every time a vehicle returns to your depot and drives over the MICHELIN QuickScan patented technology, its tyres are inspected automatically. Since fleet vehicles return to base regularly, this means every vehicle is checked frequently and systematically, with no hardware to install on the vehicles and no action required from your drivers.

(1)Based on internal MICHELIN results in 2022–2024. Increase in the number of vehicles inspected using Automated Tyre Inspection vs pre-test inspections.
(2)60 days in planning optimisation: internal MICHELIN source. Valid for MICHELIN QuickScan predictive wear dates.
(3)Use of up to 1.3mm of additional tread. Maximum gain in mm measured through regular use of MICHELIN QuickScan combined with the necessary maintenance operations. Comparative measurements, before and after installation of MICHELIN QuickScan technology, carried out on 6,806 tyres dismantled between 2020 and 2022 at 5 sites of 6 French carriers equipped with MICHELIN QuickScan technology.
